Bianchi Pista Via Brera
I had to get this 2013 Pista Via Brera by Bianchi. I keep thinking so fondly about 2007 and 2008 when those chrome Pistas were locked to every bike rack. I never got sick of seeing them. Even the hardest bike snobs had to admit they were beautiful. I spent 2012 looking for the nicest bike I could possibly buy. A bike I would ride and not think about other bikes. I had my eye on the Via Brera for a long time. The milk and coffee model was so classy and grown up, but seeing this new blue speckled undercoat in person and piecing together the perfect bars, I had to get this bike.
The Via Brera ride is so nice. The crankshaft is extremely smooth. There are no creaks and no wobbles. On a day with no wind, it feels like flying. There's almost no resistance. Every piece is so solid and high quality. I don't notice anything I would change mechanically. The seat seems like it's going to lose it's polish. It's a suede finish that's showing some discoloration after a few rides in Chicago. I might grab a Brooks saddle this summer and switch the bar tape to match, but for a high priced single speed, I couldn't be happier.
